Dear Sir or Madam,

We all know that you are the object of numerous solicitations for all sorts of causes. May we add our own, since the cause that concerns us is of extreme gravity.

Do you know that for quite some time, the Bullfighting lobby has launched a huge campaign aimed at European authorities, trying to induce them to confer legitimacy upon its activities?
Now, this extremely violent practice extolling man's lowest instinct, perverting all democratic rules and promoting corruption, must be stopped once and for all.
Although submitted to drastic censorship, we try our utmost to inform the public, who are manipulated by media propaganda representing a so-called "culture" of a most dubious kind.
In particular, we repeatedly alert our elected representatives, through reports, dossiers, leaflets, etc., denouncing the mafia methods of the international bullfighting milieu that, too often, ignores the law with impunity.
Unfortunately, for the moment our attempts have had little success.

These are the reasons for which we are sending you our 2003 Manifesto Against Bullfighting, due to be published in the near future.
We will be extremely grateful if you will read it with attention and if, should you share these views, you will kindly add your signature.

Bullfighting (2003)

Principel We solemnly state that respect for all living beings is the primordial universal value,

Besides

It is consideredt : That all acts of violence and arbitrary discrimination are the exactopposite of civilisation,

It is considered : That entertainment at the expense of a living being is contrary tocivilisation,

It is considered : That any form of distress, from whichever source, cannot be justified by another,

It is considered : That violence perpetrated for entertainment and the acquisition of riches is its worst manifestation,

It is considered : That inveigling young people into violent manifestations of any kind is contrary to civilisation,

It is considered : That removing a feeling, living being from its natural environment to place it in artificial conditions so that it is at the mercy of itstorturers, is the worst possible form of violence,

It is considered : That all deviations from the legal dispositions condemning acts of cruelty and serious injuries inflicted on animals is contrary to the respect owed to all living beings,

It is considered : That the complaisance shown by most elected members of city, regional councils and parliament towards the Bullfight lobby, is unethical and a breach of trust,

It is considered : That Bullfighting falls under all the above-mentioned considerations,

Bullfights to be totally adverse
to the fundamental and universal
values of respect for life.

And demand : That legislators refuse to tolerate any exemptions from the law protecting animals from acts of cruelty and suffering at the hands of man.
And demand : That elected representatives of all nationalities, at present vindicating Bullfighting, review their position in the sense of an outright condemnation of such violence,
And demand : That all elected representatives, particularly European ones, refuse to subsidise, directly or indirectly, any bullfight which may be organised;
And demand : That the media bring about a halt to their unjustifiable propaganda in favour of the sadistic cruelty of Bullfighting and at the same time allow its detractors sufficient time and space to express their views.

On the radio programme France Inter, on Thursday June 1st 2006, a bull-fight reporter said: "Yes, the bull suffers, yes, he dies an ugly death" and he pleads for bull-fights with "a united world and people" and even further "a people from the south and a culture ".

A world (Reich) ! A people (Volk) ! Is not there anything missing ?
He is not the first who has justified barbarity with nationalism which is but a misadventure of an infantile imagination, accompanied by xenophobia. History has been full of this, unfortunately, and always in the same direction : to induce any communitarianism (my district ! my gang !) (my ethnicity ! my religion !) and the wars that follow from this.
And what exactly is the south ? South who and what of ? Where does the south start ?
Even if we restrict to Europe, there is a very large number of " southern " countries that have nothing at all to do with bull-fights.
And in the rest of the world, how many more ! Almost the rest of the planet is south of our south, and north of which we are !
So what ? Can one live in the south of France without having been born there ? Or can one have been born there without accepting bull-fights ? Does the south of France belong to anybody ? Does one automatically just by being born or living there contract the gene of bull-fight sadism ? These lucubrations were the source of the sad days of ideologies of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century and they reappear here and there, always with their well-known disconsolate consequences. Bull-fight is one of their most pernicious media with its cortege of " ancestral cultures ", " ritual ceremonies ", " beauty of fight ", " preservation of the race ", " exaltation of death ", " deep symbolism " and other morbid and populist deception.
