Whos's who

The media contribute to shape the way we think and feel, by launching or inspiring ways-of-life and fashion.
The latest trendy attitude is now to flaunt your " afficion ", no matter which middle-class you belong to…
A would-be intelligentsia, gathering a mix of artists (actors / singers / painters...), teachers, journalists, writers, judges, lawyers, psychologues, psychiatrists, religious people (in particular catholics : Bruguès, Cadilhac), in a word all those who pretend to count in the "thinking world", confess a soft spot for the corrida (bullfighting).
These people are, by far, the most dangerous ones, since they give the "corrida" a prestige based on ambiguous and fallacious arguments. This enables the most uncultivated "aficionados" to repeat the same meaningless expressions using the words "tradition", "art" or "culture" with ethnographical references - and some ethnocentrism, too. This cultivated people deliberately black-out violence and cruelty which are the very essence of the corrida. They leverage famous bull-torture supporters such as Hemingway, Jean Cocteau, Paul Eluard, René Char or Picasso ! They endlessly use Goya as if painting what you see in a barbarian era meant supporting all what you describe or paint ! They search through the Antique Greece an through the prehistoric era to support their vision of a bloody XXIst century and desperately look for the missing link ! With their heavily (but superficially) cultural speech, they manage to bring more common individuals to assist to the barbarian bull-slaughtering sessions, making them think that what they feel is "unspeakable". They generate irresponsibility, and in that sense they become the best propagandists of decadence and obscurantism.

Here are the most visible names amongst them:
Gérard DEPARDIEU, who is not the last one to " play " the matador (killer in spanish). The Fondation Bardot filed a complaint against him.
Marie-Anne CHAZEL, Clémentine CELARIE, Christian CLAVIER are, according the " La Dépêche " (30 March 2002) among the supporters of the corrida. (By the way, they don't seem so funny any longer…!)
There is also Pierre ARDITTI, always claiming to be inspired by ethics, but so much " aficionado " that he didn't hesitate to sign the petition "Touche pas à mon aficion" (Hands off bull-fighting !), launched by the media in August 99 when Loré was convicted for barbarian acts.
Corrida (bull-fighting) and the medical world.
One could think that doctors, whose role is to fight pain, or even better to suppress it, will be in a good position to stand against bull and horses treatments in corridas.
One Could also think that they long years of university have given them all the necessary information and education to clearly oppose corridas, an activity which is in total contradiction with the most basic human feelings and values.
Well, this is an illusion: some so-called doctors do combine healing pain during the week and enjoy themselves with cruelty and torture on week-ends.
For example Dr Jean-Pierre Scheiner (according to " le Méridional, Sept. 16, 1996), is both a high-level doctor and an " aficionado ". He is a surgeon, specialising in toreros….
Dr Michel Daudé is also a surgeon and also an aficionado. In August 97 he did act as the president of a corrida (no less !) organised in Béziers. The "Midi-Libre " (15august 1997 indicated that he went to San Isidro de Madrid every year. (It's a place where corridas take place every day during the month of May.)
Dr Paul Casanovais a medicine professor, specialising in infectious diseases and supports corridas. He even wrote books on the subject, including the "Dictionnary of tauromachy".
Dr Eric Van Migom has a "passion" for corrida and proudly paints scenes of torture. Having any talent or not has strictly no importance since in the South of France, you just have to botch up any kind of painting vaguely representing a bull-fighting scene to have easy exhibition facilities and immediate access to enthusiastic press coverage!
He says that his father took him to corridas from the age of 10.
But the worst of all is probably to the gynaecologist Christian Derbuel, "aficionado práctico" (wihich means that he steps down in the arena to torture bulls by himself !) "Var Matin " ( 6 octobre 95) calls him a great humanist (sic !) and ouor friends of the du CAC 83 (comité anti-corrida) remember him welle since he wrote a letter to a local newspaper, complaining about the "anti-taurins" who, according to him had outrageously made torero Stéphane Fernandez-Meca 's son cry when their car was a little shaken by demonstrators against corridas in front of the Fréjus arenas (July 14, 2000).
Let's conclude on a more optimistic note, reminding that Dr Jean-Claude Fajeau was the first president of the F.L.A.C …
"Jean-Pierre Hugues,
préfet of the Gard,
confesses shamelessly his " afficion " for corridas ! "
(Midi Libre july 16, 2003)
Born in Lyon, a high-level civil servant in the préfecture of the Manche Department in 87, then in the Val de Marne in 93, JP Hugues becomes préfet of the Landes Department on the following year and is appointed préfet of the Gard Department in 2002.
Meeting the Press at this occasion he confesses without the faintest shame according to journalist François Martin that he loves corrida (bull-fighting).
It's when he resided in the Landes region that he became attracted by what is no more and lo less than a cruel exhibition of tortured animals.
One obviously wonders : how can a cultivated and well-educated man, possessing all the elements to make a reasonable judgment, stand for the corrida ?
Furthermore, since he is the HIGHEST representative of the French State in the region, he might have shown a more reserved attitude. As a matter of fact, can we remind him that cruelty against animals is forbidden all over France, with just a small tolerance on a little portion of the country?
Poor lonesome rich man :
Jean-Luc Lagardère used to torture bulls on Sundays!
Everybody in France know the name of Lagardère, this "super-boss ", a former Dassault engineer, born in the Gers (French Region where people still mistreat geese in order to make the infamous "foie gras" and where tradition is to slaughter !
During his free time, may be to alleviate the stress generated by his responsibilities, he did what poor uncultivated people of Malaga or Séville do: he went to "tease" toros (sorry the purists say "torear" !) in the South of Spain ("Paris Match" March 20-23 2003)
Let's just remind that he managed to buy a number of media with the Hachette Group in 1980, and that in 1986 François Mitterrand gave him Europe 1 (" Le Monde des Media " : http://www.lemondemedias.com), before he finally (in 1990), took over the TV channel "La Cinq" and in 2002 the on-US part of Vivendi Universal Publishing, making him - according to his own judgment "the most powerful man in Fvrance" !
This could be an explanation of why it is so difficult for the anti-corrida groups to have their positions and arguments published in media owned by a fanatical supporter of animal torture!

For the attention to : Laure ADLER Director of the France-Culture Radio Station.
Madam,
The newspaper "La Provence" dates Tuesday September 8 th informs us that you will award the Hemingway Proze to new talents this Thrusday, September 9th.
The attribution of this prize which takes place at the Paris Théâtre Edouard VII in presence of the publisher Marion Mazauric ("Au Diable Vauvert" publishing) and of the author of "Tâches d'encre et de sang" (published by "Le Diable Vauvert"), and of a certain Simon Casas who is also Director of the Nîmes arenas.
Always in search of respectability, the promoters of corridas and bullfighting are looking for circles that they know will contribute to the public awareness of their activites, and particularly in the world ofliterature.
Let us tell you our anxiety about this immense fraud that the Corrida promoters organise today, with the support of representants of the culture world.
We are convinced that the propaganda made for activities that common sense rejects, contirbute to fuel violence, the same violence that we are told is supposed to be fought !
One again, the bullfighting lobby tries to take culture as a support, so as to legitimate what is nothing but the metaphore of lie and cruelty.
Snobism obviously encourages such aberration that a more in-depth reflexion should exclude.
As a conclusion, we remind you that on August 12th 1999 we have won a law suit at the Nîmes TGI (tribunal), relating to acts of cruelty against animals, an action directed towards the participants to the "Fiesta Campera" on Franquevaux (Gard, France), which was a private corrida that took place on June 10th 1995 in the Alain Bonijol domain.
Among the participants were Mazauric and the torero Denis Loré. Obviously the appel of October 20th and of November 1st 2002 will change the sentence..!
For the F.L.A.C
Josyane Querelle
President.

COLLUSIONS / RAMIFICATIONS
| Tour de France 2005 |
Watched on the TV programme " France 2 " at 5 :50 p.m
Sunday, July 24th, 2005, the 21st stage of the Tour from Corbeil (in Essonne) to Paris (Champs Elysées) was won by Alexander Vinokouros. Then the commentator said " he is the one who placed the first banderillas ! " meaning that he had made Lance Armstrongs victory a little less easy by keeping attacking during the whole Tour.
Our comment : one more corridamaniac reference !
